LipSense Review

Most of you have probably heard of LipSense. And if you’re like me, you’ve probably been curious to try, but didn’t want to spend the money on it. I did receive this product to review, but this is my 100 percent HONEST review.

If you know me, you know lipsticks are my jam. Sometimes I feel like liquid lipsticks have ruined regular lipsticks for me. I have super high standards for lipsticks and let me just tell you now that these didn’t disappoint.

Oops Remover not included

Packaging

I received the starter kit. It comes with the color of your choice, the moisturizing gloss (top coat), and the oops remover. The packaging is pretty basic, they all have your basic doe foot applicator. I chose the color Purple Reign. It’s such a beautiful bright violet. Perfect for Spring coming up.

lipsense-prices

There are over 70 different colors to choose from. You can also mix colors to create new ones. There is also a matte top coat available. These are cruelty free, vegan, and gluten free. All products are made in the USA with natural ingredients.

Application

It has very detailed steps on how to apply. See below:

instructions.jpg

As you can see, the instructions are very detailed. The doe foot applicator it contains actually made it very simple to apply. I first lined my lips with the tip of the applicator and then filled the rest in. It does feel very awkward keeping your mouth open the whole time. I ended up doing about 3-4 layers of the color because I wanted a very opaque color. So the first time I applied my lips were cracked. It burned like a B****! It feels like you are putting straight up alcohol on your lips. The burning sensation went away after I put on the top coat. It didn’t burn the second time I tried it. I dislike how long the application process takes. It takes me 5-10 minutes every time. But I guess it’s ok since you don’t have to worry about your lipstick for the rest of the day.

img_0038

Longevity

When you first apply, it’s super glossy. I prefer matte lipsticks so this is a bit different for me. I didn’t find myself having to reapply the gloss throughout the day because my lips felt moisturized. My lips were still somewhat shiny after seven hours of wear. As far as the color goes, it was just as opaque as it was when I first applied it. I do love that these don’t transfer… LIKE AT ALL.

Removing the product was fairly easy. I layered the Oops remover on my lips and then used a makeup wipe to remove the rest. The second time around I used a cleansing oil and a makeup wipe as well. The cleansing oil worked just a good, if not, better. Coconut oil, witch hazel, or olive oil would work just as great. You could save yourself $10 and just purchase the color and gloss.

Overall, I think this is a great product. I do think the price tag is a little high especially since the first purchase you make will be at least $45. But to be honest, there isn’t any other product out there that does what LipSense does. You will not find another product that stays glossy and doesn’t transfer for hours. This is a great product for brides, prom, or any other special occasion. I will definitely be purchasing a nude color.

So, do I recommend this? Absolutely. I’m actually very happy I had the opportunity to try. Now I feel like I wish I would’ve tried these a long time ago.

A huge thank you to Martha for allowing me to try this product. If you are interest in Lipsense, please check out her page HEREThere are several pictures of swatches available on her page.

Thank you so much for reading.

Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick Review- Queen B

I’m back with another liquid lipstick review. This time around I’m reviewing the newish Too Faced liquid lipsticks. I was lucky enough to pick up Queen B in store at Sephora. I think this is one of their most popular shades and I can totally see why because it’s beautiful! I’m currently obsessed with nudes and mauves so of course I had to get this one.

IMG_4424.jpg

You can purchase these at the price of $21. This shade is always out of stock everywhere, but it’s currently in stock at Ulta.com. I LOVE this packaging. It’s very different from the typical liquid lipstick packaging.

IMG_3070
Queen B is described as a “matte soft mauve.” This has a slight warm undertone. It has the perfect amount of pink and mauve. The closest colors I have to this are Dose of Colors Stone ($18+ shipping) and Kat Von D Lovecraft ($21). You can check out the comparison below.

IMG_4419.jpg

Queen B, Stone, Lovecraft

I like this formula because it is light and comfortable. It’s less drying than KVD.  I’d say it lasted on me for about a good 6 hours. I found this really easy to apply.  The applicator is very similar to the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks. I also didn’t noticing any transferring.

IMG_4404

Based off of this lipstick only I can say I really like these lipsticks. I would definitely recommend trying at least one. I’m curious as to how the brighter and darker shades wear. I have my eyes on Mrs. Roper and Naughty by Nature. I will update you guys once I try those shades.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Review

As you all know liquid lipsticks are my friggin jam. I’m excited to share these with you. I own two shades: Unicorn Blood and Masochist.

IMG_2550.jpgFirst, can we talk about the packaging??? LOVE! I think these liquid lipsticks have the best packaging. I mean, who doesn’t love pink and rose gold? The container itself is excellent quality, very sturdy. The price is average, similar to others at $18.

Now we can talk about the formula. I love these because they super pigmented and opaque, and matte of course. They also aren’t as drying as other liquid lipsticks, you can still feel the moisture on your lips. They last for hourrrrsss, even after eating greasy wings. They also do not feather so a lip liner is not needed.

Now on to what I don’t like… They are a little sticky. I have the habit of closing my lips together, and it really bothers me when my lips stick together. They also transfer a little bit at first. I’d suggest blotting your lips until the transferring stops. Masochist definitely has a thicker formula than Unicorn Blood. That one is pretty watery.

IMG_2487

Lets go back to the packaging for a bit. It has the normal doe foot applicator. However, the applicator on these lipsticks are bigger than normal. So this causes the wand to pick up a lot of product. They are also fuzzier (if that makes any sense). It makes it difficult to get that precision.  Both of the lipsticks I own have the fuzziness, especially at the very tip. I have to use a lip brush to get a perfect application. First, I use a lip brush to line my lips. Then, I use the applicator to finish applying. I tend to go back with a lip brush to blend it all out. You can see in the picture below where I compare it to another lipstick.

IMG_2551

Left: Kat Von D, Right: Jefree Star

Masochist:

IMG_2534This color is what let me to make a purchase to begin with (not the name, I hate the name). It’s a beautiful medium bright pink. Like a raspberry shade. I love colors like this. They are my favorite kind of pinks to wear.

Unicorn Blood:

IMG_2547I purchased these lipsticks last Fall so of course I had to buy a vampy shade. This one is a deep reddish brown. It’s a pretty shade to have if you don’t have anything like it! I don’t normally go for brown shades.

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Overall, I’d rate these an 8 out of 10. These lipsticks would be perfect if they were easier to apply and less sticky. I definitely recommend using a lip brush to apply. I’m sure all of the other colors are just as beautiful and opaque. If you are a beginner at apply lipsticks, these may be a challenge for you. Using a lip brush can be a bit challenging as well, but it’s easier than what you get in these. I’m dying to purchase Androgyny and Gemini.

Shade of the Day- Lolita II

IMG_1993Most of you know I love Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks. She recently came out with a Lolita Lip Duo. It includes a mini Lolita and a new shade Lolita II. You know I had to get my hands on this. Unfortunately it’s sold out online, but I would check in stores to see when it comes out. I believe the full size Lolita 2 should be out Dec/Jan.

IMG_1994

The formula of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are better than ever! They are easier to apply and they are build-able. There aren’t very many liquid lipsticks out there that you can add layer after layer. They usually get all clumpy and flakey. I think I applied about 4 to 5 layers.
FullSizeRenderThe OG Lolita is a brown pink nude shade and Lolita II is a peachy pink nude. I think Double Dare is pretty similar but it’s more pink. I really love Lolita II, it’s a great nude and I think it’ll look great on all skin types. I definitely recommend purchasing this duo, especially if you don’t already own Lolita. I did not wear a liner with it.

IMG_1936I will soon be doing a post to show you all what products and techniques I use for my flawless foundation routine.

Thanks for stopping by!

Shade of the Day- Truffle

Welcome! It’s been a while since I’ve posted… It feels so good to be back!

Truffle

Today’s post includes one of Dose of Colors new shade called Truffle. It’s a neutral shade with of a mauve tint. I really like this color because it’s not too light or too dark. I absolutely love the formula of Dose of Colors liquid lipsticks. They last all day, and do not feather, clump, or transfer.

IMG_1065

(Left to right) Truffle, ABH-Pure Hollywood, KVD-Bow n Arrow, KVD-Lolita

IMG_1106As you can see it’s pretty different from the other swatches above. Truffle was extremely easy to apply. It is also very pigmented and not as streaky as Bow and Arrow or Lolita. Pure Hollywood is too light for me to wear on its own. I normally wear it MAC’s Whirl lip pencil. With Truffle I used Make Up For Ever’s Lip Line Perfector.

IMG_1100

I went for a very minimal look.

Face- Diorskin Nude BB Cream (Medium) mixed with Cover FX drops (G30), Urban Decay Naked concealer, and Hourglass Radiant Bronzer

Eyes- Diorshow brow pencil, MAC Soft Ochre paint pot, Hourglass bronzer in crease, Rimmel Scandaleyes nude liner, Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara, and Clinique Bottom Lash mascara

Thanks for stopping by. I have lots of blog posts planned for the next few weeks.

Stay tuned!

Shade of the Day- Santa Sangre

Today’s shade of the day features one of the new Kat Von D Everlasting liquid lipsticks. Santa Sangre is described as a “poison apple.” It’s a beautiful bright red! This one is a must have. You can never have enough red lipsticks. And the formula in this is better than ever. It’s not drying and feels very comfortable.

Shade of the Day- L.U.V.

IMG_2117

All makeup worn is featured in May’s Makeup of the Month.

Today’s post features Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid lipstick in L.U.V. ($20). I mentioned this item in my previous post. It is a bright violet with a slight cool undertone. These liquid lipsticks are extra matte and and last all day.

IMG_2122

A lip liner isn’t really necessary but I lightly lined my lips with MAC’s Lip Pencil in Magenta. NARS Audacious lipstick in Angela is a lot lighter. I’d say MAC Heroine is similar as well but I don’t own it.

Makeup of the Month- May 2015

I can’t believe it’s almost been a month since I have posted! A lot of things have been going on and I have been traveling like crazy but I’m glad to be back. I decided instead of doing monthly favorites, I’m just going to show the makeup I’ve worn for the month. I usually try to change my makeup routine every month anyways. Some of the makeup will be repetitive but hey, that just means I really like it!

IMG_2100

Nars Blush in Madly I mentioned this blush last month and I am still using it.

Tarte Bamboo Foundation Brush– I seriously LOVE this brush! Its so big and soft. It makes applying foundation so effortless and creates an airbrush finish.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer– I really have been enjoying this concealer, maybe even a bit more than the NARS Creamy Concealer. I like this concealer because I don’t have to set it with powder. It does a great job setting itself without creasing. It’s not as full coverage as my MAC Pro Longwear so it’s perfect for everyday use.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Liner– This continues to be my everyday liner for the waterline. Love it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz– Favorite brow product for the last couple of months. I have the color Medium Brown.

Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation– I love this foundation. It’s very lightweight yet it gives a good medium coverage. I have normal skin with a few dry patches. This one doesn’t cling on my dry patches like other serum foundations I have tried. It has a semi powdery/velvet finish so I don’t have to apply setting powder. Because it is a serum I’m not sure it would be good for oily skin. I’d recommend setting it with powder to keep it from sliding off your face. I have the shade 030 Medium Beige.

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara– This little guy is amazing. I can wear any mascara on my top lashes and this mascara will keep me from having raccoon eyes at the end of the day.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara– This mascara gives my top lashes great volume.

Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Duo in No. 2– I also mentioned this product last month. It was only for the highlight but I have actually been using the bronzer side this month. It can be a bit too orange so to keep me from looking like an Oompa Loompa, I lightly buff it into my cheeks. I would definitely repurchase just for the highlight.

Marc Jacobs Precision Pen Waterproof Eyeliner– I received this in a Marc Jacobs 500 point perk. It works just as good as the KVD Tattoo Liner ($19) and the Stila Stay All Day Liner ($20). This item is $30 for a full size. Since the other two work just as good (or even better) I won’t be purchasing this.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in L.U.V.– I purchased this a couple of weeks ago and I’ve worn it twice. It’s described as a “rich violet” and I totally agree. I didn’t take any pictures the days I wore this so I’m thinking about doing a Shade of the Day featuring it. I was very intimidated by this color for the longest time because I thought it would be too bright. I’m glad I finally made the purchase because I really like it.

Check out my favorites from last month. I’ve been in Texas for the last 10 days and I fly back to Seattle tomorrow night. I’m actually looking forward to the weather in Seattle because it’s been raining like CRAZY in Texas!

Happy Friday!

Favorite Lipsticks for Spring- 2015

IMG_1376

L to R: Kat Von D- Bauhau5, MAC- Impassioned, Dose of Colors-Kiss of Fire, MUFE- 39, Sephora Collection- African Violet

After digging through my lipsticks I have compiled a handful I think would be perfect for spring. Don’t get me wrong I am a firm believer of wearing whatever I want whenever I want, but these are just colors I tend to go for this time of the year.

IMG_1451

Kat Von D- Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bauhau5 ($20)

This color is described as a “deep raspberry.” It’s very bright so it’s a perfect winter to spring transition color. I would recommend wearing a liner for an even application.

IMG_1422

MAC Cosmetics- Impassioned  ($16)

This is a perfect pinky-coral color!

IMG_1421

worst swatch ever -__-

Dose of Colors- Kiss of Fire ($18)

I love this color because of how bright it is. My favorite red lipsticks are ones with a pink tint to them.

IMG_1423

Make Up For Ever- Rouge Artist Intense in # 39 ($20)

This is my favorite peach lipstick. I also have MAC’s Ravishing but I prefer this one.

IMG_1424

Sephora Collection- Cream Lip Stain in African Violet

I LOVE this color. It’s perfect. You need it. Go get it! You can check out my post on it here.

There are a lot more lipsticks I could have chosen but I wanted to pick basic colors you would wear for spring, coral, peach, violet, etc. Like I said before you can wear these colors anytime of the year. I just wanted to give you some ideas for new lipsticks. I hope this helped!

Happy Friday! I will be heading to Cancun for a much needed vacation. 🙂

Shade of the Day- African Violet

IMG_0519

Ok so maybe I am over deep reds and plums. I am sooooooooo ready for spring! The weather here in Seattle has been beautiful lately so I decided to try out the Sephora Cream Lip Stain I mentioned in this post. This one is in the shade 12 African Violet. This color is so gorgeous, it screams spring and summer. It’s a beautiful pink violet.

IMG_0044Sephora reformulated and came out with new shades not long ago. I have a couple of the old formula and I wasn’t really impressed. I felt they transferred a lot and became quite clumpy after a while. I was a little nervous how this one was going to wear but I ended up being SUPER impressed. I had it on my lips for about 7 to 8 hours and it was perfect! These are a little more moisturizing than the older formula and they do not clump AT ALL! I ate twice and the color held up very well. It did transfer a little but nothing too serious. I went to Sephora and they finally had Marvelous Mauve in stock so I purchased it. I would recommend a lip liner to prevent any feathering. I wore Make Up For Ever’s Lip Liner Perfector. It’s a colorless lip liner so it’s perfect for any lipstick!

These lipsticks are a must have. So go get chu some!

Happy Sunday!
