Welcome to my world where beauty and enjoying life are my passions. My name is Diana. I’m just an Oklahoma girl currently living in Seattle. My obsession with beauty began years ago. I still remember my freshman year of college (almost 7 years ago) when I purchased my first Urban Decay palette, the very first Book of Shadows. Since then I have tried A LOT of products. I’m not a professional by any means but I know what works and what doesn’t. I’m constantly being asked for beauty advice and I LOVE giving it. I have realized how much I love helping people find products I know they’ll love. So here I am now, sharing my knowledge with the world. Feel free to contact me for any beauty needs. Enjoy! Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette Review

IMG_1211

I purchased this palette about a month ago so I’ve had enough time to play with it. Contour palettes have become pretty popular since the Anastasia Beverly Hills one came out. Now there are tons of brands to choose from. This palette contains 3 shades for highlighting and 3 shades for contouring. It comes with a mixture of warm and cool tones. I like that there is more product in dark shades. The packaging is a bit thick, but you get a great quality mirror.

IMG_1296

Lucid, Lyric, Levitation

Let’s start off with highlight colors. Lucid is a light pink powder, Lyric has a yellow undertone, and Levitation is a soft peach color. I personally could not use any of these to set my concealer because my undereye area is too dry. When I set my concealer I like to use a translucent powder like the NARS Loose Setting Powder. It did work well to highlight my cheekbones, chin, and forehead. These also worked great to highlight my brow-bone and set my eye primer.

Sombre, Shadowplay, Subconscious

Sombre, Shadowplay, Subconscious

Sombre is a true taupe color, which is an idealFullSizeRender-1 contour color. Shadowplay is a soft warm brown color perfect for bronzing. Lastly, Subconscious is a deep brown. The colors I used the most were Sombre and Shadowplay. Subconscious could be used for a more sculpted look. This color is also perfect for those with deeper skin tones. If you look at the picture on the left you can see a very subtle contour (with Sombre), blended out with Shadowplay.

IMG_0519

Also used Sombre and Shadowplay on cheeks

All of the shades are super creamy and VERY easy to blend. I was pretty amazed at how fast and beautifully these blended together. It’s perfect for a beginner because the application is so effortless. These powders also work great as eyeshadows! I have used every single color as an eyeshadow and they all worked great. I used all 3 contour shades to create a soft daytime smokey eye (picture on right). First, I put Shadowplay in crease and Sombre all over eyelid. I then used a black liner on the top and bottom lash line and blended it out with Subconscious. I used a fluffy eyeshadow brush (Sigma E40) to blend it all together.

Overall this palette is great. The shades are a bit powdery, but they blend out like a dream. If I were to be asked which contour palette I preferred, I would easily pick this one. The only negative for me personally are all of the highlight colors because I don’t really need them. Like I said before I don’t really like using yellow or pink powders to set my concealer, but I think these would be great to set a full coverage concealer like the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. Don’t forget you can use these as eyeshadows too! This palette is truly perfect for anyone! It can be purchased at Sephora for $46.

What’s your favorite product to contour with?

Shade of the Day- African Violet

IMG_0519

Ok so maybe I am over deep reds and plums. I am sooooooooo ready for spring! The weather here in Seattle has been beautiful lately so I decided to try out the Sephora Cream Lip Stain I mentioned in this post. This one is in the shade 12 African Violet. This color is so gorgeous, it screams spring and summer. It’s a beautiful pink violet.

IMG_0044Sephora reformulated and came out with new shades not long ago. I have a couple of the old formula and I wasn’t really impressed. I felt they transferred a lot and became quite clumpy after a while. I was a little nervous how this one was going to wear but I ended up being SUPER impressed. I had it on my lips for about 7 to 8 hours and it was perfect! These are a little more moisturizing than the older formula and they do not clump AT ALL! I ate twice and the color held up very well. It did transfer a little but nothing too serious. I went to Sephora and they finally had Marvelous Mauve in stock so I purchased it. I would recommend a lip liner to prevent any feathering. I wore Make Up For Ever’s Lip Liner Perfector. It’s a colorless lip liner so it’s perfect for any lipstick!

These lipsticks are a must have. So go get chu some!

Happy Sunday!

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color Review

IMG_0441
Wanna start wearing bright lipsticks but not sure if you want spend money? Or are you on a budget? Then this post is for you! I knew these lipsticks were very affordable so I decided to try some out. I purchased 3 shades (in order of swatches): 965 Cherry Picking, 970 Purty Persimmon, and 908C Sugar Plum Fairy. These lipsticks are super pigmented and claim to have a semi-matte long-lasting finish. I would agree with the semi-matte but not sure about lasting over 4 hours. I’d say a good 2-3 hours. A lip liner can easily expand the longevity. For less than $2, these babies are pretty impressive. They do leave a major stain, but if you like that look you can always apply and then blot. The formula is pretty thick, so they’re tough to apply. The packaging isn’t the best but hey, you get what you pay for.

Cherry Picking

Cherry Picking

Cherry Picking is actually my favorite out of the 3. It is a very pretty pinkish red color. It was the most pigmented and easiest to apply. You can get away with not wearing a lip liner. I’d say MAC’s All Fired up is similar except it’s more matte.

Purty Persimmon

Purty Persimmon

Purty Persimmon was my least favorite out of the three. Although it’s a very beautiful red orange, I don’t think it applied well. I feel like it didn’t give an even color so I had to run my lip liner over it. It also seemed a bit clumpy. The closest lipstick I have to this is MAC’s Lady Danger. Purty Persimmon is a lot less matte.

FullSizeRender-1

Sugar Plum Fairy

Sugar Plum Fairy is a gorgeous deep berry color. As soon as I saw this in the store I knew it was going to be similar to MAC’s Rebel. A lip liner is a must with this one because it’s not pigmented enough. If you look in the picture you’ll notice how the middle of the bottom lip isn’t as pigmented.

IMG_0432

I paired these with the NYX Slim Lip Pencils (which are amazing btw). I used the colors Orange, Pinky, and Deep Purple. They ended up working perfectly with the lipsticks. You could also wear these lip liners alone, just dab some chapstick on your lips first. These run about $3.50 and can be found at Ulta or Target. Wet n Wild can be found at most drug stores. Ulta often has NYX buy 1 get one 50% off. Same with Walgreens and Rite Aid for Wet n Wild. I give these lipsticks a thumbs up for the price!

So get outta your little scaredy pants and put on some bright lipstick! It doesn’t matter what skin color you have these would look pretty on everyone, especially Cherry Picking and Sugar Plum Fairy. Don’t ever think a shade will not look good on you, more than likely you just aren’t used to it. So rock that lipstick and embrace your beauty!

Favorite Skin Care- For all skin types

I have normal to dry skin but I have a handful of products I know would work for oily skin as well. I have become a little obsessed with skin care products over the last couple of years. I’m in my mid 20’s so I figured it was about time I started taking care of my skin. I will be doing a post of all of my favorite products for dry skin soon.

  1.  Nutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleanser + Makeup Remover– This cleanser is very gentle and does a great job at removing all of my makeup. I normally use a makeup remover wipe then wash my face. I love it because it does not dry my skin out.
  2. Murad Skin Smoothing Polish– This stuff is AMAZING! My face feels super smooth every time I use it. My skin normally gets super dry and flaky in the winter time, and this stuff does a great job at removing flaky skin. It does exactly what it says, smooths skin and unclogs pores. I use this about 3 times a week. Out of all of these products I recommend this one the most.
  3. GLAMGLOW Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment– This product is a little pricey but I love it. Its a very calming treatment that moisturizes, smooths, and softens your skin. I use this as an overnight mask about once or twice a week. I wake up with my skin feeling very healthy and smooth. This stuff also smells amazing!
  4. Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre– I received this from a friend a couple of years ago and I’ve been in love ever since. I use this as my morning moisturizer. It’s very lightweight and moisturizing without feeling greasy or oily. This product is very popular among makeup artists.
  5. Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream– I mentioned this product in my Gym Beauty Bag post. I’ve tried many eye creams but I always find myself going back to this one.

I’m always on the hunt for new skin care so let me know what your favorites are! If you are wanting to try products out, you can always go to Sephora and get samples!

 Happy Tuesday!

*Beauty products listed down below

Today I am wearing Sonia Kashuk’s Velvety Matte Lip Crayon in Poppy Nude. These instantly reminded me of the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils. This shade is a bright red orange. It does have a velvet texture and applies very easy on the lips. It lasted all day so I am super impressed! This color is beautiful and for less than $8 it’s a must have! I definitely want to buy more. They have 8 other shades. If you like these then you’ll love the NARS.

*Face: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette, Becca Wild Honey Blush

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Review

IMG_0255

A couple of weeks ago during my weekly visit to Target I spotted these L’Oreal brow products. I decided to purchase them so I could possibly add them to my everyday routine.

Brow Stylist Sculptor: This product claims to be a 3 in 1 tool that lets you fill in, shape, and set your brows. It has a brush and pencil on one end and a wax on the other end. As soon as I applied this to my brow it felt a bit waxy. I have a lot of sparse areas I have to fill and I like it to look natural. It felt too harsh on the fuller areas and didn’t cover my sparse areas enough. Then, I tried using the brush to spread the product evenly and all it did was remove the product. I think this product could possibly work for someone who has fuller brows. I would also recommend using a spoolie brush as opposed to the brush included. I didn’t even notice a difference with the wax end. This removed product as well. I would not repurchase this product, it was a no-go for me!

Brow Stylist Plumper: I currently have the Anastasia Brow Gel but I don’t really like it because my eyebrows feel like they have glue on them. This product on the other hand leaves a very natural finish. It has a light tint and fibers in it to give a fuller looking brow. I was not blessed with full brows so I have to fill mine in first. This product works so well with the Anastasia Brow Powder I mentioned in my last post. My eyebrows were still very intact after 12 hours and normally that doesn’t happen when I use powder alone. I would definitely recommend this product!

IMG_0253-1

Top- Brow Stylist Sculptor and Plumper        Bottom- ABH brow powder and Plumper

You can see the difference in the picture above. There are far more sparse areas in top picture and the bottom picture looks a lot more natural. I will have a post all about brows soon including how I groom, shape, and fill them in!

Happy Thursday!

Gym Beauty Bag

IMG_1219I go to the gym in the morning before work 3-4 days a week. Of course I am in a rush after every workout so I only have about 20 minutes to shower and get ready. Since I have less than ten minutes to do my makeup, I try to go with as minimal products as possible. This has been my go-to makeup bag for a couple months:

1. Origins GinZing Enery-Boosting Moisturizer– I don’t think this moisturizer is amazing by any means, but it gets the job done. It has an amazing citrus scent and absorbs into the skin quickly so I can apply my foundation right away.

2. Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream– Now this eye cream I do love. It does feel very refreshing and cool, and also absorbs quickly. It has a pink tint with tiny shimmer particles so it’s brightens up the eye.

3. Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation– I’ve had this foundation for a couple years and I always forget how much I love it. I prefer to apply this foundation with my fingertips. It’s very lightweight and gives a good medium coverage (perfect for everyday). This foundation is the perfect balance between dewy and matte. I prefer dewy foundations but this one still works well with my dry skin (also works great with oily skin). It has a great finish so it does not need to be set with powder. I am in the shade 30 Beige.

IMG_02134. NYX HD Photo Concealer– I picked this concealer up a couple months ago at Ulta. I’m really liking it so far because it gives pretty good coverage, blends easily, and has a nice consistency. It has a good lasting power even though it settles into creases a bit. Just like foundation, I blend this with my fingertips.

5. NARS Casino Bronzer– This bronzer was my go-to for a couple years but I slowly forgot about it since I purchased other bronzers. It’s a warm-brown powder with golden shimmers that give the skin a perfect bronzed natural look.

6. BECCA Mineral Blush– I have the shade Wild Honey which is described as a “peachy nude.” This color is perfect for an everyday natural look. These blushes are very easy to blend and have a good lasting power.

7. Real Techniques Blush Brush– This brush is perfect to use for bronzer and blush!

8. Anastasia Brow Powder Duo– I’m a huge fan of the ABH DipBrow Pomade but it’s not ideal when I’m on the go. I have the brow powder in the shade Medium Brown. I use it with a cheap eyebrow brush I purchased from Walmart years ago. I wouldn’t repurchase this product because I could easily use a matte brown shadow for same results. However, I would recommend if you are a beginner. I have been trying out a couple of L’Oreal brow products and will have a review for them soon!

9. Too Faced Shadow InsuranceI purchased a set that included this one and the Candlelight one for $10 a while back so that is why I’m using it. I prefer the Urban Decay Primer Potion but this one gets the job done too.

10. Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush To give my eyes a little definition, I like to use this brush with my bronzer in the crease. It’s very easy to do and gives me a little bit of color.

11. Kat Von D Tattoo LinerWhen I have a little bit more time on my hands I like to do a thin winged line. I love this eyeliner because it has an actual brush tip so it does not fray like regular felt tip liners.

12. Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara– This mascara replaced my ALL TIME favorite mascara, Buxom Lash Mascara. It gives my lashes good volume and curl without having to use an eyelash curler. It also doesn’t make me look like a raccoon at the end of the day. I have tried many mascaras including high-end and affordable and this is my favorite.

So there you have it! What are your favorite everyday products?

Happy Tuesday!

Shade of the Day- Charlotte

IMG_0204

Today’s lipstick of the day is the NARS Audacious lipstick in Charlotte. I’m soooooo ready for Spring but I’m not ready to say goodbye to my dark red and berry lipsticks! This color is described as an “oxblood burgundy.” I don’t really have anything else like it. It’s a nice deep red with a blue undertone.

IMG_0206

These lipsticks have a satin, semi-matte finish. They feel nice on the lips and aren’t drying at all. They are so opaque all you need is one swipe! This color lasts a good 5-6 hours and leaves a good stain. Even though the price tag is a bit hefty ($32), I’d say they are worth it! I also suggest trying out Anita.

Oh and no liner needed with this baby!

Happy Sunday!

Portland Getaway

My husband and I decided to go on a little road trip to Portland for Valentine’s Day.

IMG_0091

Yup that's me! No shame!

Yup that’s me! No shame!

I started my day off with an iced coffee and a protein pack from Starbucks. We arrived to Portland around 3pm and headed straight to the food carts downtown. We ended up going to Brunch Box which is known for amazing sandwiches. My husband and I decided to share the YouCanHasCheeseburger. Boy, let me tell you this thing was UHHH-mazing! It was basically a bacon cheeseburger in between two Texas toast grilled cheese sandwiches. Did your mouth just water or did you just have a heart attack? Because I think I just had both.

IMG_0904

We walked around for a little bit then we stumbled upon the infamous Voodoo Doughnuts. I really didn’t care to go to this place because I honestly thought it was overrated, but we decided to go ahead and give it a shot. We waited in line for about 20 minutes. We got 2 of the Bacon Maple Bars (duh!) and one of The Loop. I actually ended up being really impressed and thought they were pretty yummy. Very sweet, but the actual doughnut part had a really nice texture and flavor.

I wanted to buy a new phone so we went to the mall and later went to a restaurant called The Blind Onion. We had a half pepperoni and jalapeños and half Carnivore pizza. These pizzas were so delicious and I’ve got to say this place is very generous with their toppings!

IMG_0028

I was feeling a little adventurous so I got purple!

The next day we went to Best Buy and Sports Authority. My husband got a GoPro and I got a couple pairs of my favorite workout pants, Nike Legend 2.0. They were twenty percent off so I couldn’t say no!

And That’s about it! Happy Thursday!

New Sephora Goodies

Last month I made a couple of trips to Sephora. I received a gift card for Christmas so I decided to use that up. I knew Tarte had come out with a new liner so I wanted to try it out. I also wanted to check out the new Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stains. The YSL gloss was totally an impulse buy. The second time I went to Sephora, I only had the intention of buying a brush cleanser, and I ended up leaving with the new Kat Von D Contour Palette (typical me).

IMG_0043

I have used the Tarteiest Liner a few times and so far I really like it. Reasons why I like it: super matte, long-lasting, price is reasonable ($24) including brush, and the brush is fairly easy to use. The packaging is okay. The first time I used it, I squeezed the tube too hard, and a little blob came out. I learned my lesson after that so I just started dipping the brush into the tube.

IMG_0044Sephora Collection came out with new shades of their Cream Lip Stains not long ago. I really wanted to get Marvelous Mauve but of course it was sold out. The only color in stock that stood out to me was African Violet so I decided to snatch it since it was the last one. I already own a couple other of these lips stains. They aren’t my favorite formula but for the price ($13) they are well worth it! They are long-lasting but they do transfer and crease a little bit. I still have my eye on Marvelous Mauve and Watermelon Slice. I would definitely recommend Strawberry Kissed.

IMG_0045Every time I go to Sephora I cannot help but to stop and just drool over YSL cosmetics. They have the most beautiful packaging ever. I decided to get one of the new Volupte Tint-In-Oil in the color Rose You. It’s supposed to be a very hydrating oil with a little tint. I really liked the way it felt when I tried it on my hand so that’s why I decided to go ahead and purchase it. It is very hydrating and feels great on the lips. However, I may be returning because I don’t think it’s worth the price of $32.

Last but not least is the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette. I knew I wanted this the second I saw it on Kat Von D’s instagram a while back. I held back on purchasing because I have the Anastasia Contour Kit but of course I couldn’t help myself. I’ve only used it once and so far I’m really impressed. All of the colors are very pigmented and very easy to blend. I plan on doing a full review for it soon so stay tuned for that!
